What is a Micro-Provider?
What Are They?
Micro-providers are self-employed individuals and small businesses who offer a range of support services within their local community.
Many people value micro-providers because they offer flexible, personalised support and work directly with the people who choose to engage them.
Micro-providers remain independent and manage their own businesses, services, availability and working arrangements. The Wivey Cares Micro-provider Network exists to increase awareness of local support options, promote good practice, encourage peer support and help strengthen community-based support within Wiveliscombe and the surrounding parishes.

Local & Personal
Micro-providers live locally and know the area.
You’ll always have consistency in who your micro-provider(s) are, enabling a consistent quality of care.
Quality Support & Wellbeing
Micro-providers must have an enhanced DBS certificate and valid public liability insurance in order to be associated with us.
Benefits for Everyone
Micro-providers cost £10-£15 less than agency care/hr and they get to keep the money they earn.
MPs are local businesses so they help keep money circulating and growing our local economy.
Getting started is simple. Our Project Co-ordinator will introduce you to an available micro-provider once they have understood your needs.
Individuals are responsible for choosing which provider, if any, they wish to contact and engage.
Once you have chosen a micro-provider, a standard contract is signed between you and the micro-provider – this agreement is between you and your micro-provider, not with Wivey Cares. From there, Wivey Cares remains on hand for ongoing support.
Working arrangements, including times and schedules, are agreed directly between the individual and their chosen provider(s), enabling everyone to plan with confidence and clarity.
